One of the best things you can do for your dog is to feed it foods that are natural for dogs to eat.

We've compiled a set of natural, healthy dog food recipes for you.

These are dishes that are easy to make and your dog will love them!


 
Bacon Dog Biscuits

3/4 cup Flour
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
2/3 cup Butter
2/3 cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 cup low fat Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
1/2 cup Wheat Germ
1/2 pound Bacon (or bacon bits)

Combine flour, baking soda and salt; mix well and set aside. Cream butter and sugar, beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour and salt mixture, mixing well. Stir in oats, cheese, wheat germ and bacon. Use rounded tablespoon to drop onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 350 for 16 minutes. Allow to cool.


 

Canine Quiche

4 whole eggs
1 tablespoon cream
2/3 cup milk, skim
3 ounces meat - fine chopped and pre-cooked.
2 ounces shredded low fat cheddar cheese
1 whole pie crust (9 inch)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 sprig parsley (chopped fine)

Pre-heat oven to 375F degrees.

Whisk egg, cream, milk together, then pour into pie crust. Add meat and cheese evenly. Bake for 30-45 minutes. Allow to cool. Sprinkle fresh parsley.

Fresh shredded veggies may also be included.

Homemade Liver Treats

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound beef liver

Pre-heat oven to 350.

Blend liver in blender until in liquid form. Add dry ingredients. Grease cookie sheet.

Drop teaspoonfuls of mixture onto cookie sheet and flatten with bottom of glass dipped in water and cornmeal.

Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Note: small amounts of liver are good for your dog but do not let your pet consume more than two servings of cooked liver in a week. Learn why here.
